OF BOTS, BLOCKCHAIN & (HUMAN) BEINGS: COLLABORATING ON A BETTER TOMORROW

TAKEAWAYS FROM THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ANNUAL MEETING.

              22–25 January 2019, Davos-Klosters, Switzerland

HARNESS THE NEXT ECONOMIC GROWTH ENGINE

Globalization & the Fourth Industrial Revolution
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in industrialized and developing economies is stoking fears of a jobless future worldwide. The Cognizant Center for the Future of Work (CFoW) thinks such gloomy prognostications are overly dire.

The CFoW projects that our increasing reliance on AI and automation will create 21 million meaningful and sustainable jobs over the next decade, enhancing workplace productivity and uplifting humanity.

Also, the CFoW fervently believes AI will augment and extend our human capacity, making work more enjoyable and productive for all willing to retool and reinvent themselves. And blockchain will add much-needed trust and transparency to digital commerce, reducing operational costs for businesses and democratizing access to information and services for individuals, particularly those in underserved communities.

Sure there will be hardships—both technological and behavioral as new technologies and ways of working emerge. Navigating radical change will require astute forewarning and acute forbearance, two qualities on display at our WEF Annual Meeting presence in Davos.
